Policy Development/Adoption

CSG Justice Center staff have been working with the MNDOC team on firming up Reentry 2030 goals ahead of next team meeting. Tentative goals include: (1) creating housing stability for people leaving prisons; (2) elevating education for incarcerated individuals; (3) activating/leveraging peer recover supports during confinement; (4) positively impacting families; and (5) paving pathways to living wage jobs. MNDOC has asked for more support around refining outcomes related to pathways to living wage jobs as well as more broadly tracking data and outcomes for goals and outcomes.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a call on 6/4/24 with Anna Black, Chief of Staff, and Breanna Wirth, Legislative Liaison at ADCRR, BJA (Andre Bethea, Luis Diaz) to discuss Arizona joining Reentry 2030. CSG team discussed an overview of Reentry 2030. Arizona Governor current priorities include reducing homelessness and improving social services, and Reentry 2030 can be a good way to tie this initiatives to reentry population.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a follow-up call on 6/4 with AKDOC reentry program staff (Kristofer Black an Jonathan Pistotnik) and partners at the Departments of Labor (Jeff Steeprow) and Behavioral Health (Amanda Wood) about Reentry 2030

CSG staff reached out to IDOC to schedule recurring team meetings again. Katrina Carter will follow up with executive team and get back to CSG.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a check in call with Chris Blessinger to discuss progress on goals and learn more about the Commissioner's meeting with her peer Cabinet leaders.

Follow up call on 5/31/24

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a TA call on 6/7, 6/14, 6/21 with Nebraska team including Dawn Renee Smith (Deputy Director – Programs), Janee Pannkuk (Assistant Deputy Director – Reentry), Malisa Kringle (Case Management Coordinator), Daniel Sloup (Assistant Deputy Director of Classification), Anthony Britten (Reentry Program Manager) to plan for follow-up outreach to Cabinet agencies, Reentry Taskforce and Working Group launches, and landscape analysis.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call with Kyle Kaminski to follow up on previous conversations and learn about the DOC's priorities. At this time they are not interested in joining because they feel that they have too much going on and timing is not right. Agreed to continue updating one another and keeping in touch.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call with the new Reentry Deputy Secretary Lucas Malischa to provide an overview of Reentry 2030 and hear more about PA's reentry priorities and initiatives. Lucas will have internal conversations and let us know how PA wants to proceed.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 5/14 with Hawaii Department of Corrections staff, Sanna Munoz, to introduce Reentry 2030 and hear more about Hawaii's reentry priorities.
