As a result of the DHS–IACP Intelligence Summit held in Alexandria, Virginia, in September 2022, the after-action report published in later 2022, and in consultation with Global DFO, GAC and CICC leadership, CICC members voted on and approved the DHS proposal to initiate a project to address the findings and to advance the recommendations as identified during the Summit. Work on the task teams continued during the current reporting period.

The TTA team, along with an SME, attended the Conference Against Women to present on the National Ashanti Alert Network. The TTA developed a PowerPoint for this presentation, which provided an overview of Ashanti Billie's story, the Ashanti Alert Act, and the National Ashanti Alert Network and pilot project. It was also used to provide awareness about National Missing Person Alert systems. The conference was attended by almost 3000 people.

The Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA) conducts two annual conference meetings in conjunction with the planned American Correctional Association Conferences in Summer and Winter. The attendees are normally the executive leadership staff from member state juvenile justice agencies from across the United States. Members also include Chief probation officers from county-operated agencies.

Audit oversight, conducted by the PRC at PMO's direction, repeatedly reveals that auditors have significant misunderstandings of the standards related to the education of confined people, reporting options for sexual abuse and harassment, and the provision of emotional support services to confined people. Auditors are often referred to remediation based, in part, on the challenges they face in auditing these standards.

Auditors identified in the peer review or documentation review process and referred to peer mentoring by the PMO receive one-on-one coaching from DOJ-certified PREA auditors who are specially trained as peer mentors. PRC staff also serve as mentors Mentors receive intensive training to provide support and resources to a mentored auditor, as well as ongoing support by oversight staff. This targeted support provides auditors with a strong basis to improve their auditing practice and to deliver consistently high-quality, reliable, objective, and comprehensive PREA audits.

Peer reviewers assess auditors' work utilizing a standardized scoring rubric. The PRC deploys two reviewers for each peer review to conduct a rigorous examination of all the evidence and documentation relied upon by an auditor. The peer reviewers determine the extent to which the auditor has made accurate compliance findings and followed the methodological requirements defined in the PREA Auditor Handbook. From January to June 2024, the PRC concluded nine peer reviews initiated in a previous cycle.
