The Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA) conducts two annual conference meetings in conjunction with the planned American Correctional Association Conferences in Summer and Winter. The attendees are normally the executive leadership staff from member state juvenile justice agencies from across the United States. Members also include Chief probation officers from county-operated agencies. The PRC presents at each of these meetings on relevant topics regarding PREA implementation with feedback from CJJA and CJJA members regarding topics of most relevance to them or where they are seeing the greatest implementation challenges. In the winter meeting, PRC Director Dana Shoenberg and PRC Senior Manager Teresa Stroud presented on Recommitting to Sexual Safety in Confinement. The Presentation focus was on elements that executive leadership might provide their focus to ensure the best outcomes for their PREA implementation teams. This included providing adequate support and authority to their PREA Coordinators, appropriate use of risk screening information, access for vulnerable populations, collaboration with experts in the community and ensuring appropriate investigations.
