The U.S. Attorney's Office of Massachusetts requested a Blue Courage Academy, a Blue Courage Emeritus, and a Blue Courage Drive training course. Blue Courage, Inc. was selected to fulfill the request and will provide the Blue Courage Academy to various law enforcement agencies across Massachusetts from October 10 – 13, 2017 in Grafton, Massachusetts.

The University of Chicago Crime Lab requested travel support for participants to travel to and attend the Early Intervention System (EIS) National Advisory Committee (NAC) meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support for 21 participants to attend the EIS NAC meeting on April 27 - 28, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) requested travel support for one individual to attend the 2017 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Annual Technology Conference . BJA NTTAC provided travel support for one individual from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania Police Department to attend the event on May 22-24, 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance requested updates to the Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) curriculum, previous developed under a previous BJA NTTAC engagement. CNA was selected to continue this work, through surveys of national CIT programs, reviews by subject matters experts, and a pilot training. The pilot training is scheduled to occur in December 2017

The Jackson (MS) Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site requested support to host a homicide investigations management training. The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) was selected to fulfill the training request and delivered a three-day course with a team of four subject matter experts to 36 participants representing the Jackson Police Department and other regional agencies on May 1 - 3, 2017 in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Baltimore, Maryland Police Department (PD) requested an assessment of their homicide investigation practices. John Skaggs was selected to fulfill the request and delivered the recommendations report to Baltimore PD in April 2017.

The Flint, Michigan Police Department (PD), as part of the Flint Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site, requested a comprehensive assessment of gang issues in the city of Flint. Dr. Charles Katz and Dr. Andrew Fox were selected as providers to fulfill this request. During Phase II of this engagement, the providers conducted a working group session with 10 - 20 gang experts from Flint PD and across the city of Flint. The providers developed a gang database and gang member information card, and conducted a social network analysis.

The New Orleans, Louisiana Police Department (PD), as part of the New Orleans Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site, requested technical assistance to teach its new crime analysts about key crime analysis principles. The New Orleans PD was unable to move forward with the request and BJA NTTAC closed the request on June 6, 2017.

The Newark, New Jersey Police Department, as part of the Newark Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site, requested travel support for three crime analysts to travel to two training events hosted by the International Association of Crime Analysts. 2 travelers attended IACA training from May 1 – 5, 2017 in Denver, Colorado, and 2 travelers attended a course from May 22 – 26, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The West Bend, Wisconsin Police Department (PD), in conjunction with the Green Bay, Wisconsin PD, requested 7 Habits of Highly Successful People for Law Enforcement training for up to 80 officers. The Carolinas Institute for Community Policing requested funding support to provide 75 participant kits to the West Bend PD and Green Bay PD for the three-day training on March 14 - 16, 2017 and May 17 - 19, 2017, respectively.
