NRRC staff met with program staff to walk through program planning process, discuss current status, and follow up on issues addressed during monthly TA conference calls with cohort and OJJDP. Specifically discussed current status of evaluation prep and IRB approval and the challenges in addressing all the requirements of OJJDP and the IRB.

On this site visit, NRRC staff met with grantee to discuss staffing and organizational changes and their affect on the grant program. Significant changes in the program have taken place since December and NRRC and grantee staff walked through changes, updates, highlighted issues, and discussed the sustainability and future potential expansion of the program post-award period. Walked through challenges of working with both a stipulated and non-stipulated population and aligning with probation. Additionally, took a tour of transitional housing facility.

CSG Justice Center staff visited Sponsors' adult reentry mentoring program serving men and women releasing to Lane County, Oregon from Oregon DOC prisons and Lane County jail. Sponsors mentoring program serves medium- to very high-risk men and women and has had particular success serving sex offenders (approximately 40% of their clients).

Kathy Mitchell from OJJDP and CSG Justice Center staff visited DJJ?to provide a training on gender-responsivity for girls in the single female facility in the state, and I met with DJJ?senior leadership to discuss intersecting reforms, current challenges, and priorities moving forward. CSG Justice Center staff also participated in the quarterly reentry task force meeting.?

National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC) staff facilitated conversations about the screening, assessment and referral process; the larger context of behavioral health and criminal justice initiatives in Los Angeles County; and sustainability options for CARE. The visit coincided with the beginning of referrals to the program, which provided an opportunity to review draft screening/assessment materials and workflows.
