The Center for Court Innovation selected three pilot jurisdictions, based on a competitive application process, to assist in the implementation of a teleservices initiative. Montana was selected as one of the jurisdictions. Their project is intended to utilize technology to offer remote access to treatment, court hearings, and client supervision for the CAMO Veterans Treatment Court, located in Billings, MT.

Sam Cochran of the Memphis CIT Center was invited to join and participate as a panelist during a SAMSHA working meeting – Making Connections: Improving Outreach and Engagement Services for individuals with Serious Mental Illness. Major Cochran’s presentation and participation further expanded an understanding of the CIT model role and partnerships, and reaffirmed a consensus agreement amongst attendees that community partnerships are one of the most critical elements to that of achieving sustainable success.

The evaluation of the conference four workshops - How to Start Your CIT Program were very favorably rated. Numbers suggested presentations were helpful and filled gaps of understanding CIT beyond just training. The staff was convinced a void was present and the four presentations help to connect some of missing pieces absent from CIT obtaining community status. Many informally commented the workshops helped to connect the “dots” – understanding CIT is more than just a training program.

The CIT Center was contacted by a collaboration of community partnerships from Little Rock Arkansas requesting a presentation of the CIT model. Retired Major Sam Cochran, Dr. Randolph Dupont (University of Memphis) and Dr. Thomas Kirchberg (Memphis VA Hospital) presented the CIT model as a community program - The Core Element of the CIT Model. Several community partners were present: Law Enforcement, Mental Health Providers, and Advocates.

JDI provides support, information, and referrals to incarcerated survivors across the nations via confidential legal mail. JDI also provides information and referrals related to victim services to certified PREA auditors.
