    NCCJD Webinar: Serving Juveniles with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities

    The Arc’s National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability™ (NCCJD) notes the decline in juvenile crime and incarceration and accompanying rise in incarceration rates for youth with I/DD. NCCJD’s white paper and webinar on justice involved youth with I/DD highlights emerging issues and promising practices from across the country including:

    NCCJD Webinar: Sex Offenders/Suspects with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

    Through NCCJD’s national information and referral process, we continue to see cases of sex offenses by people with I/DD that are well outside the stereotypical instances portrayed by the media.

    Enhancing Tribal and State Collaborations to Build Sustainable Public Safety Partnerships (Nov 2015)

    This course is designed to be a proactive, comprehensive, training experience that fosters collaboration among tribal, state, federal, and local governments. The class will train and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify existing tribal justice challenges for the purpose of strengthening partnerships to more effectively implement criminal justice initiatives in their organizations.

    This 2:00 p.m. ET webinar will focus on the implementation of educational technology in a safe and secure manner in an Indiana Department of Correction facility. We will discuss programming and how technology has been used to enhance services and opportunities for inmates. Emphasis will be place on security of the device and systems in place to prevent unwanted access or communication.

    Medication Assisted Treatment: Changing Correctional Paradigms

    This 2:00 p.m. ET webinar will describe the processes employed by the Massachusetts Department of Correction in implementing its Medication Assisted Reentry Initiative (MATRI). Attendees will learn about the best practices used in developing the program, engaging stakeholders and community programs, and overcoming obstacles such as bias, funding, and correctional culture. Attendees will also see the results and outcomes of this program after one year of operation.
