    BJA NTTAC Webinar - "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics"

    On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.

    Enhancing Tribal and State Collaborations to Build Sustainable Public Safety Partnerships

    The course consists of topics including: Collaboration & Partnerships: MOU/MOA and Tribal Governance; Understanding Issues and Tribal Threats: Law & Legal, Sovereignty for Collaboration: Best Practices and Lessons Learned; Partnership & Stakeholder Resources. This training assists participants in overcoming collaborative tribal partnership challenges by: deploying the GAP Analysis process within their strategic planning process and initiate collaborations with appropriate structure to maximize tribal and non-tribal resources in a problem-solving environment.

    Tribal Track at National Association of Drug Court Professionals

    The National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) Annual Conference is the world’s largest conference on substance use disorders, mental health disorders and the criminal justice system. The NADCP 22nd Annual Training Conference and the Justice For Vets 4th Annual Vet Court Con will be held simultaneously at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, California. 

     

    The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) will provide four workshops focused on Healing to Wellness Courts at the 22nd Annual National Association of Drug Court Professionals Conference. These workshops include "Indian Country Legal Issues," "Pharmacology and Medically-assisted Treatment (MAT) in Healing to Wellness Courts," "Keeping Families Together in Healing to Wellness Courts," and "Healing to Wellness Courts in Action."

    Reducing the Use of Segregation in Correctional Facilities: Lessons from the Field/ Webinar # 1: Using Assessment to Drive Reform

    This is the first in a series of webinars presented by the Vera Institute of Justice’s Safe Alternatives to Segregation Initiative. The purpose of the series is to highlight reforms to segregated housing (also referred to as restrictive housing or solitary confinement) being implemented by corrections agencies across the country. 

    Tribal Track at the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals' Conference

    The Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals (MATCP), in cooperation with the Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI), is pleased to host a two day conference designed to meet the educational needs of anyone who works within the justice system and deals with defendants engaged in drug and alcohol abuse. Whether or not your jurisdiction has a drug treatment court, veteran's treatment court or mental health court, this conference will enhance your skills in dealing with the needs of substance abusing defendants/clients. This year, the conference will feature a Tribal Track, hosted by the Tribal Law and Policy Institute, including workshops on Enablement Prevention, Incorporating Culture and Tradition, and Confidentiality.

    2016 Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training

    The 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training is a three-day comprehensive training for both operational Wellness Courts and courts in the planning stages. This training features dual tracks, ranging from legal issues, to treatment considerations, to strategies for better incorporating culture and tradition into the Healing to Wellness Court structure. Operational Wellness Courts will share their experiences and advice. There will also be opportunities for networking.

    Police/Community Trust: Local and National Perspectives (Jan 2016)

    This webinar will describe in detail the reasons for the extraordinarily successful police/community trust initiative in Watts, California. Specifically: why the police were bought in; why the community was bought in; what resources it took to sustain the effort; and requisite structural changes, e.g. in police training and evaluation. The National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice will focus on the community perspective.

    Regional Training #3: Effective Strategies for Supervising Specialized Offender Populations

    Promote healing, enhance public safety, and reduce recidivism in your role as a tribal probation officer. During this training, you will explore strengths-based supervision strategies and case management skills for the following populations on probation: probationers with mental illness, alcohol and substance abuse addiction, and domestic violence offenses. Engage in a variety of activities to enhance your ability to effectively case manage high risk populations. Examine strategies for multi-disciplinary team building to support tribal probation.

    Regional Training #1: Tribal Probation Training Series: Strenghths-Based Approaches to Supervising High Risk Offenders

    This training will provide tribal probation officers with insight on the unique needs of specialized offender populations including mentally ill, alcohol and substance abusing offenders, and domestic violence offenders. Tips, tools, and techinques for effective case management of these populations will be explored, and participants will have the opportunity to practice skills through hands-on training, interactive scenarios, and role plays.
