Register to join the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the Yale Childhood Violent Trauma Center (CVTC) for the webinar “Enhancing Police Responses to Children Exposed to Violence: A Toolkit for Law Enforcement” on Wednesday, April 5 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will learn about a new toolkit that will enable law enforcement officers to identify and respond to children exposed to violence and potentially traumatic events. The toolkit, available electronically and in hardcopy, was developed by law enforcement practitioners and mental health professionals to:
- Enable officers to address children exposed to violence,
- Build positive police-community relations,
- Increase officers’ safety, and
- Enhance officers’ sense of professional efficacy.
Webinar presenters include speakers from the IACP and Yale CVTC, as well as the New Haven, Connecticut Department of Police Service. They will discuss the issue of children exposed to violence, address the role of police officers in the lives of affected children, and present the 13 tools that the toolkit comprises.
