The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has developed an online Officer Safety and Wellness Library. The purpose of the library is to provide law enforcement agencies with a variety of resources to aide them in prioritizing the physical and mental health of their officers.
The occupational fatality rate for law enforcement is three to five times greater than the national average for the working population. Those officers who protect us must also be protected against incapacitating physical, mental, and emotional health problems, as well as the hazards and risks inherent to the profession. The COPS Office developed this online repository in response to the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing report and in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice Officer Safety and Wellness Group.
