BJA NTTAC recently provided funding to Michael Nila, retired Commander from the Aurora, Ill., Police Department and founder of Blue Courage, to deliver the Blue Courage training to the Niagara Falls Police Department. Blue Courage is a three-day, intensive law enforcement training course designed to educate officers on principles and practices of human effectiveness, purpose-driven work, resilience, positive attitude, and sound judgment.
“We have wanted to bring this training to the department,” said, Bryan DalPorto, Superintendent of the Niagara Falls Police Department. “It will be transformational for the department (leaders) professionally and personally.” The outcome of the Blue Courage training is to remind police officers of why they were called to serve and to teach them to become “true guardians.” The training focuses on not only the officer’s skillset and toolset, but his or her mind and heart.
