Attend a National Meeting on the Integral Role of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs and Comprehensive Data in Combatting the Opioid Epidemic
The Institute for Intergovernmental Research’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Training and Technical Assistance Center – a partnership with Brandeis University and supported by the Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (COAP) – will be hosting “The Integral Role of PDMPs and Comprehensive Data in Combatting the Opioid Epidemic National Meeting” on June 26 - 27, 2019 in Arlington, Virginia.
Trends show that coordinated efforts across federal, state, and local stakeholders can help address the problem of prescription and illicit drug misuse and abuse. During the meeting, attendees will hear from experts who will discuss how data and information sharing play an important role in projects responding to the opioid abuse crisis. The meeting will cover the following topics through a series of presentations and roundtable discussions:
- Innovations in PDMPs;
- An overview of the healthcare data sharing network, the eHealth Exchange;
- An overview of the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program;
- Determinants of overdose deaths;
- Tailored data evaluation strategies to reduce drug abuse and addiction;
- How to leverage social, behavioral, and health data;
- COAP grant projects that optimize PDMPs and data sharing collaboratives; and
- Drug threats that are emerging in the United States.
COAP PDMP grantees, information-sharing partnership grantees, PDMP administrators, federal leaders, researchers, healthcare practitioners, and industry representatives are encouraged to attend. There is no cost to attend the meeting. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with more information about the event site and hotel accommodations upon registration.
