Attend a Bureau of Justice Assistance Webinar on How to Become a Sentinel Events Initiative National Demonstration Collaboration Site
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) – in partnership with the National Institute of Justice – is currently seeking sites for the Sentinel Events Initiative (SEI) National Demonstration Collaboration. Under SEI, jurisdictions acquire the essential tools to learn from unintended outcomes in the criminal justice system, including wrongful releases, in-custody deaths, fatal overdoses of justice-involved individuals, and escalated encounters with the public. Selected jurisdictions will receive technical assistance to conduct sentinel event reviews, which bring criminal justice practitioners and other stakeholders together to explore how those negative outcomes occur. Through the collaboration, jurisdictions will be able to address the circumstances contributing to those unintended outcomes through a systemwide approach.
To learn more, join BJA for “The Sentinel Events Initiative: Becoming a Demonstration Site” webinar on Wednesday, April 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will gain a better understanding of the sentinel events approach, discuss available technical assistance, and identify next steps for jurisdictions interested in becoming an SEI site.
