Hosted in partnership with Children and Family Futures, this Café Conversation webinar provided an opportunity for the Family Drug Court (FDC) field and partner agencies to more closely examine their programs to ensure fairness and equal access to its program. The discussion included descriptive findings of a data set from a federal initiative on whether racial disproportionality and disparities existed among a cohort of families participating in Family Recovery Courts, and highlighted examples of FDCs that have examined this issue in their programs and taken important steps to ensure equity and inclusion for all children and families in the child welfare system affected by parental substance use disorders, regardless of gender, race, and ethnicity. The live webinar event also featured a facilitated discussion between practitioners from two FDC programs and a tribal law specialist from the Tribal Law and Policy Institute as they shared their experiences and expertise in ensuring equity and inclusion in their communities.
