The Bureau of Justice Assistance launched the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Policy Implementation Program (PIP) in fiscal year 2015 to assist law enforcement agencies with the enhancement or implementation of BWC initiatives. In the past two years, BWC PIP provided more than $41 million in funding to 179 police agencies across the country to support BWC initiatives. The primary goals of BWC PIP are to improve public safety, reduce crime, and improve public trust between police and the citizens they serve.
