Register for a Leadership and Implicit Bias Training Workshop Hosted by the National Sheriffs’ Association

Register to attend the “Leadership & Implicit Bias” Law Enforcement Professionals training workshop hosted by the National Sheriffs’ Association’s Global Center for Public Safety and the International Academy of Public Safety. The 16-hour workshop will be held Tuesday, March 28, beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET to Thursday, March 30, until 12:00 p.m. ET in Exeter, Rhode Island. This workshop will help participants discover their own implicit bias and understand how it affects their experiences with other people.

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Determine what implicit bias is and is not;
  • Identify the key characteristics of implicit biases;
  • Discuss the developmental history of implicit biases;
  • Develop a greater understanding of the framework within which these biases have occurred and will continue to occur;
  • Develop a process to continue to seek out and dismantle implicit biases;
  • Use tools to manage the emotional state that occurs when implicit bias arises so that their interaction with others is not negatively impacted; and
  • Learn deliberate and credible leadership strategies and tactics to overcome barriers to opportunities and enhance outcomes to build a trusting community.
