Register for BJA’s Webinar on April 7: Fiscal Year 2017 Prison Rape Elimination Act Program

Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for an informational webinar on the fiscal year (FY) 2017 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Program: Strategic Support for PREA Implementation in Local Confinement Facilities Nationwide grant on Friday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET. This webinar will provide information on the PREA Program and competitive grant announcement, as well as provide participants the opportunity to ask questions.

Through this program, BJA will support local agencies overseeing medium- and small-sized jails, lockups, community confinement facilities, and juvenile confinement facilities in implementing or expanding efforts around PREA standards and zero tolerance cultures related to sexual harassment and abuse. In close collaboration with BJA, the selected provider or team of providers will carry out various activities in two project phases:

  • Planning: Administer a competitive, national site selection process and inform the development of a comprehensive PREA Planning and Implementation Guide.
  • Implementation: Oversee an 18-month implementation phase in each of the selected sites, managing the work of selected sites in expending program resources and sharing promising practices nationwide.

The selected provider or team of providers will coordinate their activities with the National PREA Resource Center as well as the BJA National Training and Technical Assistance Center. Eligible applicants include national nonprofit and for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education (including tribal nonprofit and for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education).

Applicants must register with Grants.gov prior to submitting an application. All applications are due in Grants.gov by 11:59 p.m. ET on May 25, 2017.
