Register for the Basic Training for Street Gang Investigators Training in Birmingham, Alabama!

The National Gang Center (NGC), with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), will host a three-day training course titled “Basic Training for Street Gang Investigators.” The course will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 through Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Birmingham, AL. The course will offer basic, entry-level training to sworn officers newly assigned to work with street gangs or those with limited experience and/or no formal training in street gang investigations. Course topics may include:

  • National Gang Overview

  • Developing Sources of Information

  • Regional Gang Overview

  • Prevention/Intervention and the Role of Law Enforcement

  • Gang Investigations

  • Interviewing Gang Members

  • Gang Suppression

  • Social Media Technology

  • Federal Sources and Tools

The class size is limited in this course, so interested attendees are encouraged to register early. Attendees are required to complete the prerequisite 80-minute, self-paced training prior to the onsite training. The online prerequisite training is the Street Gang Intelligence module and can be accessed by navigating to www.nationalgangcenter.gov/Online-Training.
