New IACP Resource – Youth Focused Policing Agency Self-Assessment

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), with support from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, recently announced a new tool to assist law enforcement agencies in the early identification of trends, resources, and community partnerships that may be helpful in identifying best practice responses to improving the safety and well-being of youth in their communities. The Youth Focused Policing Agency Self-Assessment allows agencies to assess their current state of policy and practice in prevention and response strategies to reduce juvenile offending, reoffending, and victimization.

Law enforcement agencies play a substantial role in reducing and preventing crime and delinquency committed by and upon youth. The self-assessment tool contains questions and discussions in 13 sub-categories that address certain priorities for agencies to consider in developing or enhancing their youth focused policing strategy.
