National Crime Prevention Month Celebrates 30 Years

This October marks the 30th annual celebration of National Crime Prevention Month. Since 1984, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) has designated October as the official month for recognizing and celebrating the practice of crime prevention while promoting awareness of important issues such as victimization, volunteerism, and creating safer communities.

This year, NCPC is partnering with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Not In Our Town, the FINRA Investor Education Foundation, and the Global IP Center U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Each week throughout the month of October, NCPC is releasing new resources for consumer and law enforcement agencies to disseminate to their communities. The four weekly themes are:

Week 1: October 1 - 11 Get Alerts, Stay Alive: Emergency Preparedness

Week 2: October 12 - 18 Raise Your Voice to Stop Hate

Week 3: October 19 - 25 Prevent Financial Fraud: Before You Invest, Ask and Check

Week 4: October 26 - 31 Get Real About Intellectual Property Theft
