Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Team for the “Emerging DNA Techniques” webinar on Wednesday, March 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET. During the webinar, participants will learn about innovative DNA technologies available for use in forensic investigations related to sexual assault.

The presenters for this webinar will include:

  • Dr. Mark W. Perlin, Chief Scientific and Executive Officer at Cybergenetics, who will discuss solving sexual assault cases using DNA mixture evidence, as well as the importance of uploading mixed sample profiles to a DNA database;
  • Dr. Barbara Rae-Venter, Genetic Genealogy Consultant, who will review the use of autosomal DNA in cold case sexual assault investigations and provide a sample case; and
  • Dr. Ellen Greytak, Director of Bioinformatics, and Dr. Steven Armentrout, Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of Parabon NanoLabs, who will explain the use of DNA phenotyping in criminal investigations, as applied through their software, Snapshot®.
