Join the Justice Clearinghouse for the webinar “Gun Crime Investigative Cycle – Bridging the Gaps” on Thursday, August 24 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET. During this webinar, attendees will learn about specific investigative and intelligence programs and strategies, as well as solutions for bridging the gaps between phases of investigation, which help to ensure comprehensive and timely investigations that result in the successful prosecution of firearm-related cases. In addition, this webinar will help participants develop strategies to prioritize identified leads, direct limited resources and budgets, and achieve success that can ultimately lead to a reduction in firearm violence in their communities.
Presenters for this webinar include Darrell Smith, the Phoenix Crime Gun Information Center Coordinator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Assistant Chief Paul Neudigate of the Cincinnati, Ohio Police Department. Smith and Neudigate will discuss:
- Programs, policies, and strategies that are implemented at each stage of a crime gun investigation, as well as information on how to bridge the gaps that are inherent in the criminal justice system;
- Best practices for agencies to get the most from the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), including lead categorization and prioritization; and
- The results of how NIBIN has been successfully used in Cincinnati, contributing to significant decreases in their violent and firearm crime rates.
