Join the COPS Office for the First National Coffee with a Cop Day on October 7

Please join the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) for the first National Coffee with a Cop Day on Friday, October 7, 2016. Coffee with a Cop is an innovative program that began in 2011 by the Hawthorne (CA) Police Department (HPD). It has since grown exponentially, reaching thousands of agencies throughout the United States and abroad (including Canada, Australia, Europe, and Africa).

The purpose of Coffee with a Cop is to help break down barriers between the community and police in response to rising tensions. The program is simple - officers from local police departments invite their residents to join them for a cup of coffee and a conversation. The program has come a long way since HPD's initial implementation, with nearly 2,000 law enforcement agencies and communities currently participating nationwide.
