Find Information and Resources in the White House’s New National Drug Control Strategy

On January 31, newly sworn-in White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Director Jim Carroll released the Administration’s National Drug Control Strategy, which outlines President Donald Trump’s priorities for addressing the challenges of drug trafficking and substance abuse, especially as related to the nationwide opioid epidemic.

ONDCP’s strategic plan focuses government efforts on three complementary activities:

  • Preventing illicit drug use through education and evidence-based prevention programs;
  • Reducing barriers to long-term recovery and treatment services through methods ranging from increasing access to naloxone to offering medication-assisted treatment and therapy services; and
  • Reducing the availability of illicit drugs through law enforcement and cooperation with international partners.
