The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) VALOR Officer Safety Initiative recently released the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Toolkit. The toolkit provides a comprehensive snapshot of federal resources available to state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to assist them in learning about and promoting officer safety.
In the toolkit, agencies can find information on programs such as the VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Program, Active Shooter Response Training, and De-Escalation Training. All VALOR Initiative programs are designed to protect the safety, health, and well-being of law enforcement officers by providing up-to-date tactical-, skill-, and awareness-building education; technical assistance; and resources.
The toolkit also covers the following programs and topics:
- The Bulletproof Vest Partnership,
- Blue Courage,
- Public Safety Officers’ Benefits Program,
- Funding,
- Research,
- Federal resources,
- Information sharing, and
- Officer Safety Event Deconfliction.
