Check Out the BJA Resource – Video Evidence: A Law Enforcement Guide to Resources and Best Practices
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in coordination with the Global Strategic Solutions Working Group, has released a resource titled, Video Evidence: A Law Enforcement Guide to Resources and Best Practices. The purpose of this resource is to provide answers to straightforward common questions that law enforcement officers, or the agencies they represent, may have regarding properly securing, collecting, storing, and analyzing video by directing them to valuable tools and resources from experts in the field. The target audience for this product is chiefs of police and sheriffs.
This resource includes an introduction to the issue, background, and purpose of the document, but it is primarily comprised of FAQs on the following broad topics with recommended resources to address each question:
- What tools would help me with video retrieval in the field?
- What guidance is available for storing video files?
- Are there tools to help me with the analysis of video?
- What tools would help me assist community businesses to share video?
- What training programs or resources are available?
