Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC), in coordination with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), released a case study titled New York City Department of Probation’s Federal Partnership Efforts. The case study reviews how the collaborative technical assistance partnership of BJA and NIC with the New York City Department of Probation (NYC DOP) made a difference in the successful implementation of the NYC DOP's Evidence-Based Policy and Practice Plan.
The NYC DOP, the second largest probation department in the country, is aiming to instill evidence-based policies and practices throughout the organization while better managing their resources and tools and generating staff investment in the new approach. The case study also examines what lessons the rest of the field can learn from the experience. BJA and NIC helped the NYC DOP to develop better tools, skills, and tactics through their collaborative efforts.
