BJA and IACP Release a New Resource for Law Enforcement Officers – Health Watch: Checking in For Duty

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in coordination with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) recently released a resource for law enforcement officers titled, “Health Watch: Checking In For Duty.” The resource is a physician’s checklist to help law enforcement officers be their own health advocate. The trifold pamphlet was released as part of IACP’s Reducing Officer Injuries project and contains a list of recommended questions to ask a doctor during an annual physical and encourages law enforcement officers to take an active role in their own health.

The purpose of IACP’s Reducing Officer Injuries project is to identify and document the causes and magnitude of officer injuries, develop practical resources to assist law enforcement agencies, recognize and respond to officer injury vulnerabilities, and disseminate resources to the law enforcement community.
