On January 6, 2016, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in partnership with the Center for Court Innovation, announced its 2016 Community Court Grant Program. A community court is a neighborhood-focused court program that attempts to harness the power of the justice system to address local problems.
Through the 2016 Community Court Grant Program, up to 10 state, local, or tribal jurisdictions will receive up to $200,000 to support their efforts to promote local alternatives to incarceration in two categories: enhancement and implementation. Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, February 19, 2016. Decisions about the award are expected to be announced in April 2016.
