During this four-part series, expert researchers and practitioners will discuss the experiences of women in the field of policing, as well as identify opportunities, challenges, and research gaps affecting the successful inclusion of women in U.S. law enforcement.
The first webinar, “Women in Law Enforcement: Physical Fitness Standards in Recruit Training Programs,” occurred on Thursday, June 6, and focused on the recruitment of women in law enforcement roles. During the webinar, participants will learn about existing research on the barriers and challenges that women face when seeking promotions, as well as hear a firsthand account of navigating the upper ranks of law enforcement.
- “Women in Law Enforcement: Navigating Police Culture,” Wednesday, August 28 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will learn strategies for navigating police culture and discuss the importance of inclusive succession planning.
- “Women in Policing: Performance and Outcomes,” Wednesday, September 25 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will learn how women may perform policing functions differently than men and the resulting impact on developing a more comprehensive model for performance evaluation.
