Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to learn about the Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI), including current funding opportunities, the training and technical assistance (TTA) program, and key changes for the fiscal year (FY) 2018 solicitation. The “FY 2018 Justice Reinvestment Initiative: Funding Opportunities for State, Local, and Tribal Agencies and TTA Providers” webinar will take place on Tuesday, November 20 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET.
BJA recently announced two FY 2018 funding opportunities under JRI, which uses criminal justice data to design and implement innovative, research-based, and comprehensive approaches to reduce crime, cut recidivism rates, and shift resources toward more cost-effective safety strategies that work. Applicants may apply for funding in the following areas:
- FY 2018 Justice Reinvestment Initiative: National Training and Technical Assistance, which enables TTA providers at the state level to pursue a systemwide JRI engagement and help state, local, and tribal jurisdictions apply key principles of the JRI approach to identify and respond to specific crime and other public safety challenges.
- FY 2018 Justice Reinvestment Initiative: Reducing Violent Crime by Improving Justice System Performance, a vehicle for criminal justice agencies and systems to enhance business management and operations processes to address complex factors that drive crime and use of criminal justice system resources, particularly at the state, local, and tribal levels.
Please also refer to BJA's Overview and Use Examples for more information about the FY 2018 JRI funding opportunities.
