Justice Clearinghouse will host the “Ethics and Human Bias: The Co-Existence of ABA Model Rule 3.8 and Human Bias” webinar on December 12, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET. The presenter, Ms. Elizabeth Burton Ortiz, will highlight the ethical responsibilities for prosecutors outlined in American Bar Association’s Rule 3.8, specifically within the context of prosecutors’ susceptibility to implicit and confirmation bias.
Ms. Ortiz is a sworn special prosecutor in several Arizona counties. She serves as a board member of the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators, the National District Attorney’s Association, the Arizona Forensic Science Academy, the Arizona Supreme Court’s Commission of Victims in Court, and the Governor’s Commission to Prevent Violence Against Women.
