Attend a Webinar on Addressing the Needs of Justice-involved LGBQ/GNCT Youth

Join the Coalition for Juvenile Justice for the webinar “Gender, Sexuality, and the Juvenile Justice System: Promoting System Improvement” on Tuesday, August 28 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET. During the webinar, participants will learn about gendered pathways into the juvenile justice system and related needs, vulnerabilities, trends, and opportunities. The webinar will prepare justice professionals and service providers to meet the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer/gender nonconforming, and transgender (LGBQ/GNCT) youth involved in the justice system.

The webinar will review two nationally recognized, research-based, gender-responsive programs that have achieved success in both prevention and intervention settings. Giovanna Taormina, Executive Director of the One Circle Foundation, and Kiku Johnson, Associate Director of the One Circle Foundation, will discuss the theoretical foundation for The Council for Boys and Young Men®, including evidence-based principles such as resilience, strengths-based youth development, and motivational interviewing. Participants will also learn about program outcomes for LGBQ/GNCT youth, as well as training resources and tools.
