Apply to Be a Participant in the National Institute of Corrections’ Training Program on Female Inmate Relationships
The National Institute of Corrections is seeking four to six participants for its blended learning training program . Candidates should have experience with preexisting gender-responsive knowledge and motivational interviewing skills, as well as possess an understanding of the Prison Rape Elimination Act standards and strategies to support sexual safety. This advanced training will build upon participants’ current knowledge and understanding of these topics and includes the following:
- Four-hour virtual instructor-led training (early February 2020)
- Up to eight hours of intersession assignments
- On-site instructor-led training (February 25–27, 2020)
- Brief follow-up remote coaching
The purpose of this training is to foster and support safe and healthy relationships with and among female inmates. Participants will learn effective communication skills along with the ability to manage inmate relationships and safely intervene when needed.
A small number of participants who perform well in the training will be invited to attend an on-site training of staff trainers in March 2020.
