Pay for Success: New Capital for Evidence-Based Programming

Tuesday Dec 02, 2014 - 02:30pm to 04:00pm EST
Event Description:

Hosted by the National Reentry Resource Center and The Urban Institute. As publicly-funded programs and services across the country continue to experience budgetary constraints, many are beginning to look to social impact bonds (SIBs) and other “pay for success” financing strategies, as possible solutions for funding. This webinar will provide an overview of the pay for success funding model – what it is, how it works, its challenges, and examples of current SIB projects in the criminal justice field across the country. In addition, it will also provide an overview of the Social Impact Bond Resource Center, developed by the Urban Institute, with the support of the Bureau of Justice Assistance of the U.S Department of Justice.

The Resource Center contains presentations and publications that describe the implementation of this new financing mechanism in the justice system. The webinar will also provide an overview of the Pay for Success Grant Program at the Social Innovation Fund, an initiative focused on supporting and scaling evidence-based programs, housed within the Corporation for National and Community Service. Two of the program’s grantees, the National Council of Crime and Delinquency and the Corporation for Supportive Housing, will provide information about their Pay for Success projects and discuss opportunities for state and local governments and nonprofit organizations to receive technical assistance in developing capacity to implement PFS.

This webinar will be especially beneficial to criminal justice/behavioral health practitioners, administrators and service providers who are interested in learning more about this innovative funding mechanism. To register for this webinar, please click here
