Prescription drug information sharing strategies are an important part of combating the national epidemic of prescription abuse and drug overdose deaths. he Department of Justice (DOJ, Department) is committed to improving the nation’s public safety and response to crime victims; its Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) plays a critical role in changing policies and practices that promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The meeting will convene approximately 25 jail practitioners and stakeholders to share feedback on 1) a draft publication on Non-Clinical Guidelines for Managed Withdrawal in Jail Settings and 2) additional products and resources that could be developed to help jails effectively provide treatment to individuals with opioid use disorders.

This meeting will be a structured, three-day site visit for 5 teams to visit Erie County, New York, to observe various aspects of Erie County’s comprehensive and multidisciplinary opioid response and have opportunities to interact with the leaders of these initiatives, spend time together as a team to support local planning, and engage in peer networking and information exchange with teams from the other selected sites.
