Tennessee has two 2018 COAP Category 1 - First Responder Partnership Projects - Sullivan County and Hamilton County TN. The grantee wanted to learn whether it was possible to visit a peer program. BJA asked TASC to facilitate introductions between the Tennessee teams and the peer sites; have a call with the Tennessee teams and representatives from the peer sites; and pick the site that is the best fit for the Tennessee teams to visit in the future.

Conducted a joint site visit with a team coach from Health Management Associates (HMA) for the Planning Initiative to Build Bridges Between Jail and Community-Based Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder. The site visit includes tours of the local jail/detention center, community service providers as well as participating in a lengthy team meeting to discuss the project and the planning process.

The yearly NAJIS event focuses on the needs and priorities of government practitioners working in the data exchange/information sharing field, and this year included a session on “Combatting the Opioid Epidemic through Information Sharing.” This plenary presentation provided an overview of the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP), one of the demonstration areas that IIR supports for BJA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The COAP Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) team partnered with the RSAT TTA team and the Philadelphia Department of Prisons (PDP) to offer a site visit training opportunity for two persons per COAP grantee project site. The selected grantee teams participated in a 1 ½-day training at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia.
