The Sheriff's Office has formed a Peer Support Team to assist with critical incident debriefs as well as support for the day to day stresses of life. It is imperative the members of the team receive proper training from qualified instructors in order to assist the over 600 sworn and non-sworn employees. BJA NTTAC referred this training to St. Petersburg College.

In 2012, LVMPD underwent a review by the COPS Office, which was conducted by CNA. The review examined policies and practices as they relate to the use of force and officer-involved shootings (OISs) (the full report can be found at www.lvmpd.com/aboutlvmpd/officeofinternaloversight). The goals of the review were to make reforms that would:
• Reduce the number of shootings
• Reduce the number of persons killed as a result of OISs

Assist the DC MPD enhance operational efficiencies and strategies for civilianizing certain positions within the department. Deliverables include: (1) comprehensive assessment of the current department workflows and activities performed by sworn officers; and (2) strategic plan with recommendations to implement changes based upon assessment findings and successful implementations similar in scope and complexity to MPD.
