The NRTAC team hosted a peer-to-peer engagement between the Baltimore City State’s Attorney Office (BSAO), Baltimore Police Department (BPD), and the Los Angeles County, California District Attorney’s Office (LADA), in which the BSAO provided LADA guidance regarding violence reduction strategies and community outreach. The purpose of the meeting was to provide the LADA with an in-depth understanding of the strategic support centers, crime support units, and community outreach efforts of the BSAO.

The NRTAC team hosted the fourth Intelligence & Analysis Roundtable. The goal of this interactive Zoom Roundtable was to strengthen the CGIC intelligence analysis community of practice. The Roundtable discussed techniques used by CGIC intelligence analysts, with analysts from Little Rock, Arkansas; Detroit, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; and other CGIC sites sharing lessons learned and tips on effectively and efficiently analyzing NIBIN data.

The Justice Clearing House (JCH) invited NRTAC to deliver a webinar featuring a panel of academics and policing experts discussing innovative tools and strategies for reducing gun violence in the United States. Specifically, crime gun intelligence centers and training assistance provided by NRTAC were highlighted, along with Mark Kraft discussing firearms trafficking trends, Kerry Yerico detailing intelligence analysis techniques, and Natalie Hipple, PhD. discussing current gun violence-related research and trends.

The third session in the Purpose Area 3 learning community series was facilitated by PRA. During this session, the grantees discussed: Addressing Threats of Targeted Violence; Identifying Targeted Violence: Information Sources and Information Needed; Privacy, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties (P/CRCL) Considerations; Federal Confidentiality Laws and Other Protections; and Promising Practices and Strategies. The groups discussed their progress thus far.

In the second learning community session for JMHCP Purpose Area 3, the facilitator, PRA, gave a presentation and facilitate a discussion on youth and school violence. During the session, attendees defined school and youth violence, learned about how Minnesota addressed youth violence, discussed school safety, and learned about the root causes and protective factors.

The NRTAC team hosted the fourth Prosecution Roundtable to bring together CGIC prosecution partners. Discussion centered around the increase or decrease of gun crime in various participating jurisdictions and the assessment of whether the CGIC process has helped address violent gun crime. The Roundtable also reviewed scenarios of the successful use of NIBIN in prosecuting crimes. Additionally, the Roundtable presented an opportunity for participants to share approaches they may have applied to juvenile gun crime.

The NRTAC team hosted the third Research & Evaluation Roundtable. The goal of this interactive Zoom Roundtable was to strengthen the CGIC research and evaluation community of practice. The Roundtable discussed CGIC impact evaluations by providing examples of the detailed process and the importance of documenting and describing processes for long-term outcomes. Additionally, the Roundtable addressed outcome measures, including data sources used and issues encountered. Finally, a discussion surrounding gunshot detection technology in research and evaluation of CGICs took place.
