The Justice Clearing House (JCH) invited NRTAC to deliver a webinar featuring a panel of academics and policing experts discussing innovative tools and strategies for reducing gun violence in the United States. Specifically, crime gun intelligence centers and training assistance provided by NRTAC were highlighted, along with Mark Kraft discussing firearms trafficking trends, Kerry Yerico detailing intelligence analysis techniques, and Natalie Hipple, PhD. discussing current gun violence-related research and trends.
The webinar invitation was sent to the BJA-funded CGIC grantees, along with the JCH distribution list. There were 318 attendees, and the webinar received a rating of 8.75 out of 10 from participants. Following this webinar, the NRTAC received a TTA request from Fremont Police Department in California. The department was very interested in additional training and resources, specifically surrounding nonfatal shootings. The NRTAC is currently in the process of developing a curriculum for virtual training in January 2022.
