The goal of the the SCA site visit was to develop a cohesive picture of WestCare’s My Recovery Matters for Successful Reentry program and identify strategies to further the project’s goals and objectives. The day and a half session included work on the following key objectives:
  • Review of WestCare’s core mentoring program and transitional services, including the referral and assessment process; behavioral health treatment and support services; and pre and post-release case management.

The DFE TTA team will continue to coordinate weekly teleconferences with the project coordinators at the DFE grantee sites in order to monitor implementation and provide technical assistance to sites as implementation issues arise, as well as to guarantee fidelity to the HOPE model. These teleconferences will be ongoing throughout the duration of the project.

Three local JRI sites (Travis County, TX, Mecklenburg County, NC, and Denver Co, CO) using quantitative analysis of the drivers of population and cost in their local criminal justice systems, have identified a population of individuals who cycle frequently through the system—with multiple arrests per year, consuming significant law enforcement, court, and jail resources—who exhibit high degrees of homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse disorders.

The PRC coordinates and produces trainings to train qualified individuals to become certified as DOJ PREA Auditors. The PRC secures a location, develops training materials, invites and coordinates partner faculty to assist in training, and coordinates lodging for all attendees. The PRC invites 75-100 qualified individuals to attend training. Individuals apply and provide information regarding their qualifications. When the PRC receives and application, designated staff members review and either approve their qualifications and recommend them for invitation or deem them unqualified.

The OH-DCPS requested assistance in the delivery of a Specialized Investigations Training to a select group of community-based residential provider staff related to Administrative Investigations of a PREA incident. TMG will conduct this TA request through three (3) phases: 1) consultation of trainer selection, pre-training evaluation development and disbursement, and policy review; 2) tailoring of the investigations training; and 3) the delivery of the training and training for trainers in Columbus, Ohio.
