LISC Senior Program Office Matt Perkins was joined by LISC Milwaukee Community Development Program Officer Bess Earl to discuss how and why revitalization partners working to transform spaces should include safety planning as part of those efforts. Matt and Bess shared experiences working with CBCR sites from Milwaukee and Alameda County, best practices, lessons learned and the idea of how and why to include law enforcement as part of the process.

The Tucson CBCR project team members and community partners held a video conference with LISC Senior Program Officer Matt Perkins to introduce and discuss CPTED concepts as part of their CBCR effort. The meeting included a presentation by Tucson CBCR staff, on which Matt was asked to provide significant feedback regarding CPTED strategy, development and linkages to the business community.

LISC will attend Hartford’s core-leadership team implementation strategies kick-off meeting. Site has a new project coordinator so it will be helpful to ensure he is up to speed, get his perceptions of the submitted implementation plan and to talk through short-term plans for next 3-6 months. New project coordinator (PC) lives in the hot spot area so is more well versed in the challenges that the prior PC.

LISC is currently working with the site on developing an agenda for an upcoming TTA site visit to discuss implementation expectations, meet partners and tour the site’s downtown commercial district which could serve as a pilot for LISC’s newly developed commercial corridor safety work. The objective of this site visit will be to meet with partners and stakeholder and assist in acclimating them to the CBCR model, conduct an on-site assessment of the site’s current capabilities and understanding of the CBCR model, and identify immediate areas of TTA needed.

Orlando, Florida Police Department requested a crime analysis assessment to provide a review of our current work flow/work load as it relates specifically to their Crime Analysts. IDEA Analytics was selected to fulfill the request and provided a crime analysis assessment. The assessment occurred on August 20 - 22, 2020 and involved interviewing Orlando PD leadership, crime analysts, technology support personnel, and applicable stakeholders to further
understand current practices and desired goals for data-driven policing.

The Wilmington, Delaware Police Department requested CPTED training and assessment training. The Western Community Policing Institute was selected as the provider for this request and delivered CPTED training and assessment training.
