During the month of July 2024, 170 new SLATT user accounts were created. Of the new accounts, 104 were approved as SLATT direct accounts, 48 were created via RISS program credentials, and 18 were created via Federal Bureau of Investigation, Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal, program credentials.

The SLATT team addressed approximately 44 inquiries received from users submitting questions or requests using the “Contact Us” button on the slatt.org website. Inquiries related to SLATT training, resources, webinars, publications, login issues, website access, and general questions.

Coordination continued with program partner the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) on the instructional design, development, re-structuring, and refreshing of SLATT curriculum and eLearning courses. All seven modules of the basic SLATT online eLearning course have cleared the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) quality control process and are pending upload into the IIR LMS.

Steve DeBrota presents a 90 minute workshop called, "New Approaches to IoT Crime Scene Analysis in 2024". This presentation will explore the ever-increasing importance of IoT crime scenes and the potential evidence generated by IOT devices and wearable devices. The session will include real-world examples showcasing IoT crime scenes and exhibits, illustrating how these interconnected devices have played a pivotal role in solving cases.

NW3C sent staff and facilitators to present at the 2024 National Cyber Crime Conference (NCCC) on the topic called, "Digital Frontiers: Navigating Emerging Technologies in 21st Century Prosecutions ". The presentation is described as, "This presentation introduces a comprehensive course designed for prosecutors who handle criminal prosecutions based on digital evidence. The course will cover a range of emerging technologies that are increasingly pivotal in legal proceedings.

This training provides investigative techniques, legal strategies, case studies, and forensic research from Purdue University and the National White-Collar Crime Center concerning how to understand, collect, interpret, and explain wearable fitness device evidence in legal proceedings. This includes medicolegal issues in violent crimes investigations, such as time of death, cause of death, and relevant vital signs.
