8/14/23: Site visit meeting with state Senator Becky Whitley (Chair, Committee to Study the Long-Term Effects of the NH Parole System) to inform her of the project and provide an overview of the findings.
July- Dec. 2023: Creating a quarterly training program for staff focusing on training on digital evidence, police misconduct and motion litigation, defense of sexual assault crimes and trial skills training. Will be presenting in person at one of these programs as well as obtaining speakers for other sessions. Date is set and speakers confirmed for first program in March 2024.
July-Dec. Application approved for NACDL Staff Attorney to assist in reviewing, evaluating, designing and implementing a training curriculum for approximately 60 defenders. Have met with the head of their office and working to develop training for their attorney staff. The office has very limited resources.
January-June 2024: Prior conviction impeachment webinar was held on June 27, 2024.
The DC Superior Court along with associated advocates invited NCJFCJ to participate in a call with staff members at the NICS program to discuss details of getting Extreme Risk Protection Orders uploaded into the national repository for these orders. NCJFCJ staff participated in the call along with staff from SCIP TTA partner Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions to learn why orders were not being entered and what changes were needed to get these orders entered.
CT requested assistance with their VPT on their Byrne JAG. Spent several meetings talking through CT some strategies for managing their VPT
