The Maryland Office of the Public Defender requested technical assistance to improve upon its existing strategic plan. In 2011 the Office received support from BJA NTTAC, with Indiggo Associates providing technical assistance in establishing an agency mission/vision, core values, and a strategic plan. In the six years that have elapsed since the initial support, there has been significant turnover in personnel, as well as a number of leadership changes, so the Office was looking to revisit its strategic plan.

CEBCP Congressional Briefing: Violence and Violence Prevention

The Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP), in collaboration with WestEd’s Justice & Prevention Research Center, will hold its next Congressional Briefing on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Rayburn House Building at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. CEBCP’s Congressional Briefings provide research evidence on various topics in an accessible format.

Annie Pineda - Director of Pro Bono for The Bronx Defenders spoke at a conference regarding law firms and their pro bono work. Annie panel piece was focused on how big law firms can assist non-profits who represent underserved populations achieve a more holistic practice.

Attended "A Dialogue on the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) Implementation of the Enhanced Sentencing Authority" sponsored by BJA and put on by APPA. TLPI provided TLOA Enhanced Sentencing Authority/VAWA Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction list of implementing tribes chart to participants and discussed our TA and VAWA Intertribal Working Group information. TLPI provided, to APPA, links to our: Implementing TLOA/VAWA tribal code resource, TLPI VAWA webpage, and NCAI VAWA webpage.
