CJI met with county analysts to develop a web-based cost-benefit model for the county. This work will build on cost data collection and that the county undertook with assistance from The Vera Institute, and will result in a more robust cost-analysis and CBA decision making tool than originally planned. It will also enable to county to update and manage internally once the tool is complete and they have been trained. Completion and delivery of the tool took place in the Fall of 2015.

A data request was drafted related to the use of the Johnson County jail beds for non-jailable offenses. This data request will lead to the analysis of data to to examine the impact of booking and detaining defendants for non-jailable offenses.
Case Synopsis: The suspect was a driver for EZ Port. He would transport the victims around starting in 2012. The suspect began helping the victims more with other tasks and was paid $25 an hour for his help. In 2/14 one of the victims was moved into an assisted living facility where the suspect tried to obtain Power of Attorney. the suspect admitted that he had been paying himself in cash from ATM withdrawals he was making.
