Original request : Right now, our biggest problem is the methamphetamine use on our reservation.
Some challenges we would face developing a MAT program would be creating and/or writing policy and procedures
needed, getting the correct training, and having coordination with both BIA and IHS in order to implement the MAT
program.

Norfolk, VA is scheduled to attend the site visit to Vermont DOC in November. They would like help with obtaining funding, collaboration with community services, resources for patients who are homeless with substance abuse disorder, and how to treat patients with substance abuse disorder more efficiently in the jail.

Santa Fe County, one of the current Bridges sites, is interested in doing a site visit or two to learn more about how other places successfully manage detox within the jail (and presumably learn more about how they administer MOUD, etc.). They specifically asked for similarly situated jails - their facility is 612 beds with an ADP of 256; county population is 154,000 - and said places like CA, WA, NY, etc., are probably not going to be a good fit for them/their community to learn from.

The grants contact for Middlesex County wanted feedback on a potential NCE request. Reviewed the documentation and provide edits. The 12-month NCE request will be submitted prior to BJA deadline of 8/30/2024.

The DCHD team has mentioned data collection and analysis during our previous conversations. The most recent conversation revolved around some definitional challenges they faced. Rulo offered to connect DCHD to Abt Global. The referral was made on 8/13/2024.

The DCHD team has mentioned struggles with getting peers inside the Dallas County Jail due to resistance from corrections professionals. Rulo offered to connect DCHD to Altarum to offer additional resources and thoughts on the best way to approach the resistance. The referral was made on 8/13/2024.

The county claims that approximately $30k has not been spent by the partner due to hiring challenges. Rulo offered options for the utilization of those dollars and suggested a short-term NCE if a plan is already in place or a longer-term NCE if considerable planning is needed. Lt. Buntin reached out for some support regarding the requirements of PMT reporting for multiple grants, specifically because he has multiple grants, with the second grant continuing the first.

Brandon Irwin was looking for some guidance for the county in implementing the Transition from Jail to Community (TCJ) model that NIC offers. He was looking for TTA on it. Rulo staff emailed Chief Stephen Amos to ask for help, and the Chief connected staff with Panda Adkins of the JJSC. Rulo staff connected Panda with Brandon.

As a follow-up to the Franklin County, MA MAT Site Visit, Tonie asked for policies and OTP license information from Franklin County. Rulo staff connected her with Ed Hayes.
