In September, the project team welcomed Maeve Blake and Joseph Llanes as the two resident corrections analysts for placement at Wyoming DOC (WYDOC) and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), respectively. As part of their onboarding, CSG Justice Center staff held kickoff meetings with both agencies to introduce their resident analyst. Resident analysts began onboarding activities at their respective state agencies, including completing required training and obtaining access to technology structures.??

In August, the project team made significant progress on hiring resident corrections analysts. CSG Justice Center staff continued interviewing potential resident corrections analyst candidates for placement at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (LADPSC). ??
In partnership with CSG Justice Center staff, Arizona State University successfully hired two resident corrections analyst candidates for placement at Wyoming DOC (WYDOC) and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.??

CSG Justice Center staff began interviewing potential resident corrections analyst candidates for placement at the selected DOC sites. Interviews were conducted with applicants for the CSG Justice Center one-year full-time research analyst position and with graduate students at ASU for the two 0.80 FTE placements.??

4/3 Call with Noah Wright (Data Scientist, Texas Department of Juvenile Justice) to discuss his experience with a prior embedded analyst program and lessons learned.
4/3 Video conference with Cassidy Jenney (Energy Conservation & Sustainability Administrator, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction) to discuss her RCA application and the needs of her agency for additional data analysis capacity related to recycling and waste management.

In May, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further developed outreach strategies and project next steps, and reviewed the technical assistance (TA) opportunities applications. The project team also reviewed self-assessment tool submissions and finalized the self-assessment tool results page._Below are the three state application summaries recommended by the CSG Justice Center:

The Resident Corrections Analysts (RCA) initiative launched with the posting of an announcement on BJA and CSG Justice Center websites. Simultaneously, a webpage went live on the CSG Justice CenterÕs website to serve as a promotional platform and informational hub about the initiative for DOC leaders. Both deliverables directed DOC leaders to fill out an interest form to request a corrections analyst placement and gave a deadline of Friday, April 21 to submit the form to be considered for the first round of placements.

In June, CSG Justice Center staff spoke with selected agencies to discuss RCA project(s) and hiring timelines and to begin formulating scopes of work (SOW). CSG Justice Center staff drafted SOWs for each agency to ensure clarity on project parameters and how the resident corrections analyst will function within the placement agency.
