During the one-day meeting, Mr. Bruce discussed how the sharing of enterprise level offender data benefits the entire criminal justice community; show example data analysis products; demonstrate Maryland Offender Management System with IAP.
The Arkansas City Kansas Police Department is requesting assistance to bring in the Blue Courage, Heart and Mind of the Guardian two day seminar. We are a small agency of 26 sworn officers with a limited training budget and expansive training needs. The Arkansas City Police Department had a change in the upper management within the last year with the retirement of the Chief and Captain. As the new Chief, I am looking for the best training opportunities which will benefit not only the officer, but the whole agency and the community we serve.

Within this program, over the next two years Wilmington will be seeking assistance from the BJA in the areas of technology, crime analysis, intelligence, grant preparation and community building.
The District of Columbia's Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) is in need of assistance to provide technical training to approximately 10 CSSs and approximately 10 Firearms Scientists by way of a 40-hour introductory class on shooting scene reconstruction. By providing this training, participants should learn the practical methods associated with the documentation, collection, and preservation of evidence and data associated with ballistic events. Mock scenes or other hands-on experiential learning is recommended for this type of training.
The Purdue University Police Department (Purdue PD) is seeking training in order to implement a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and general campus crime prevention initiative. A CPTED training will give the officers greater knowledge and skills to work further with the university community and provide campus stakeholders with quality education in the area of community crime prevention.
The agency is requesting to receive professional training in the topic area of fair and impartial policing/ cultural awareness, and or community policing. A topic that could best cover those three areas if possible, and have the course repeated on two days so a larger number of FMPD personnel would be able to attend. Other Law Enforcement agencies in Southwest Florida would also be invited to attend the training.
The Board requests further technical assistance with Dr. James Austin to review and determine if revisions to the Board’s parole guidelines levels 1, 3, 4, and 7 are merited. Currently, parole guidelines level 1 shows a 0-5% probability rate for success. The Board’s statistics show that voting members’ are voting more than the 5% rate. Additionally, level 7 shows a 76-100% probability rate for success. The data shows the majority of the voting members are unable to attain this rate.
