NCCJD Director provided keynote address at NADD's annual national conference in Colombus, OH
NCCJD staff and The Arc's Public Policy staff provided a session for chapter leaders on how to provide criminal justice advocacy on a budget.
NCCJD conducted the sixth and final Pathways to Justice training of the project period in Ventura County, CA in partnership with The Arc of Ventura County. There were a total of 75 participants. Pre/post testing was conducted and evaluation summary is reported in deliverable inventory.
NCCJD conducted the fifth Pathways to Justice training of 2017 in Austin, TX in partnership with The Arc of Texas (state chapter). There were a total of 95 participants. Pre/post testing was conducted and evaluation summary is reported in deliverable inventory.
NCCJD hosted 13 web-ex or phone call meetings with Disability Response Teams to effectively prepare each team for training day (to conduct the one-day Pathways to Justice training). This totaled 16 hours of TA.
NCCJD conducted the fourth Pathways to Justice training of 2017 in The Berkshires in MA in partnership with Berkshire County Arc. There were a total of 56 participants. Pre/post testing was conducted and evaluation summary will be reported in deliverable inventory.
NCCJD conducted the third Pathways to Justice training of 2017 in Leesburg, VA in partnership with The Arc of Loudoun County. There were a total of 115 participants. Pre/post testing was conducted and evaluation summary is reported in deliverable inventory (there were a total of 67 evaluations completed).
NCCJD conducted the second Pathways to Justice training of 2017 in Albuquerque, NM in partnership with The Arc of New Mexico. There were a total of 45 participants. Pre/post testing was conducted and evaluation summary is reported in deliverable inventory.
NCCJD Director gave keynote address at Natl Assoc of State Directors of DD Services. Title: From Crisis Intervention to Crisis Prevention: Using Disability Response Teams to create better outcomes for People with I/DD in the Criminal Justice System. Description: People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are over represented in the criminal justice system, both as suspects and victims of crime. All too often the systems that attempt to serve this population take a crisis intervention, rather than a crisis prevention, approach.
NCCJD Director, Leigh Ann Davis, was asked to speak at a forum made possible by a Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) grant, through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). The focus of 2017’s forum is a continued discussion from the last two year’s forums regarding how to better serve clients with developmental disabilities that are forensically involved.
